Adoption has saved us much Endo painFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Mar 14 17:07:37 2003
Endo has led me to adoption. Hubby and I were just approved and now are on a waiting list for a baby ! In about a year we'll be parents ! We opted to not go thru the IUI's and IVF's and just get on with having a family. We did try one IUI, but it hurt, and I felt like a cow. The nurse gave my hubby's sperm to a diff lady and I had to get it back,,, it was awful. Mostly the worst was the drugs that accompany the IUI, the Chlomid made me very ill, I beleive because it made me ovulate which boosted my estrogen (which endo eats). So, after many bad side efffects we decided against the 'un-natural' impregnation plan. We decided to adopt at that time. Because we didn't go thru all that crap we are approx 5-7 yrs younger than most other couples adopting and also we have retained much mental strenght/stamina that would otherwise have been wasted. Many of the other couples adopting looked so tired and used up. We looked almost 15 years younger than them, even though it was much less. We've been advised by many books and Dr.'s that infertility can wreck a marriage - I certainly see how, it's painful enough to not be able to have your own kids, it's even more painful to keep trying to have them for 10 years, and once you've failed for 10 years that is even more painful. I feel I have avoided 1/2 the pain of endo by avoiding the years and years of trying. Soon we will have a baby and I will be a stay at home Mom ! I can't wait. I will still be a young Mom !
