Re: Lupron and hot flashesFrom: Erin (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Mar 12 12:40:54 2003
I definitely do not want to scare you, but on the other hand feel a need to share my experience with you. I took Lupron injections for 6 months as normal, got the hot flashes, mood swings, night sweats etc. I took my last injection in September of 2000 and although MOST of the hot flashes have subsided, I still have the night sweats. I am not sure if you have these are not. The night sweats have been an ongoing problem since the Lupron, that I am told will most likely affect me indefinitely. It helped to take Effexor XR, which is an anti anxiety/depression medication but is VERY useful for hot flashes. I started the Effexor 1 month before the injections, and took them after the injections were over, and it helped subside them quite a bit. I have done quite a bit of research on Lupron and think that if anyone is considering taking it to do the same, it is definitely not for everyone. As for me, I can't say the Lupron made my symptoms any worse, but I did have more pain after the shots than before.
