Hot flashes were the most uncomfortable, but adding soy to my diet helped. I wasn't on any add-back therapy for the 1st three months since my doc wanted to "burn out" my hormones to get the endo under control. After 3 months, she put me on the climara patch, .025. Which helped with the rest menopausal side effects. Every person's body will react differently, in my case, it works great. I was also terrified of all the horror stories I heard, but am glad I tried it.

In my case, I felt the alternative (hysterectomy) was worse.

Good luck.
