Re: Considering Lupon Depot - questions about side effects for young women (25 yr olds)From: alicia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Feb 19 19:18:30 2003
Why don't you take a look at the info the doctors on this website gave me? They had never heard of anyone getting pregnant on lupron because it is meant to shut your ovaries down. When my doctor sent me for genetic counseling just in case, I saw some of the best specialists in the world when I visited John Hopkins. I am positive that my baby is ok. I would never suggest any woman try to get pregnant on lupron nor would I do it again. Accidents happen to everyone and you have to deal with it. I'm dealing with a mistake that could have been prevented. And how do you think medicines are catagorized in the first place? At one point in time, pregnant women took them and they were realized to be harmful. As of right now, there is no proof of lupron being dangerous, only the potential. I have contacted a large number of woman who became pregnant on lupron (around 30 I believe). Only one of their babies was born with a defect - Down Syndrome. The mother was also forty years old and had a previous child with Down Syndrome so it is unknown if the lupron had any play in the defect. But you are right, the risks are unknown, and I was pretty sure I said that one way or another. Unless you have a medical degree, stop bashing what everyone else is saying. Like you said, everyone has their own beliefs, I respect your belief, please respect mine. I'm not advocating that people get pregnant and put babies at risk. I'm saying that it has happened and things turned out ok. The only reason why I shared my story is because someone was curious - not because I want people to do this.
