Ovarian Remnant Syndrome/ Residual Ovary SyndromeFrom: silentwhispa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Jan 29 02:19:33 2003
Hi all, I wrote back in December asking for help regarding the re-occurance of endometriosis in a post hysterectomy woman. (aka me) Back then we all thought yes this was the most likely cause of the pain i had been getting, but after seeing a specialist they were perplexed as to why it was cycling since both ovaries had been removed and the estrodial implant i have had gives a constant amt off so therefore shouldn't cycle. Well i stuck to my guns and wouldn't back off with the fact that it DOES cycle, and now they think that it could well be "Ovarian Remnant Syndrome / Residual Ovary Syndrome... which is when a small fragment of ovary is left behind at the tying off point of the blood vessels when the hysterectomy is performed. This can then grow to a degree and is massed in the adhesions and is very common in women of multiple surgerys and endometriosis/adhesion sufferres..... I am having an ultrasound next week and this should find it if it is indeed this, but it sure sounds hopeful, and i dont feel like im banging my head against a wall with Dr's finally, altho this could change if it shows nothing. LOL. Anyway, i just wanted to let you all know of this discovery, and you may know of it already, but incase any of you didn't and were having similar problems and finding no one to listen, then its possibly something you can mention to your Dr as a possibility. Also if there are any of you out there who have been diagnosed with this, would love to chat and find out more about it, and what treatment you had.
-- Anyway, take care all...... Feel well,
