I know it is safe to take 800mg of Motrin (Ibuprofen is the generic) at a time. This is what my Doc subscribes to me to help my Endo. That is the same thing as taking 4 over the counter Advil, which are 200mg a piece. I don't know how bad your pain is, but 800mg of Ibuprofen usually at least takes the edge off for me and makes it a little more bearable.
