Re: Just be Dianosed Today - Do not like doc's Treatment planFrom: Anonymo (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Jan 16 18:08:03 2003
I agree. And I want to get the word out. I didn't know about this before today, and I think most women with endo still don't know. One reason for this? Well, the EA does not disclose this on their website. (Yes, there are some mentions of TAP buried in there, but you'd have to really search for them. I didn't even find them after searching, until someone put the exact links up here. EA doesn't even have a search feature on their website) I believe the EA is committed a double betrayal by not clearly disclosing the fact on their website that they accept money from TAP. If they feel they are doing nothing wrong, why not clearly display their contributors and then state their point of view that this does not influence them in any way? Most other organizations and websites do this. I just ran across another website healthywomen.org that is heavily funded by pharmaceutical companies, but at least they clearly disclose it and say (I think wrongly) that the corporate sponsors have no influence over what they do. It seems to me they are hiding the fact because they know their members would not like it. Because I do not think that it will be easy to get them to stop -- my approach will be to urge them to disclose this information clearly on their website. Once they disclose it, women will know, and then they will get a huge response, and then they should change their minds.
