Re: To remove or not remove?

Hi Shellea,

Chances of reoccurrance of endo are higher if ovaries are left behind. I had a hyst and left ovary removed and there were lots of adhesions and endo. My right ovary was perfectly fine at the time. A year and a half later, the right ovary was covered in endo and adhesions. When I went to have it removed, they were not able to get it all out and now I have ORS (ovarian remnant syndrome) and still have endo. When I ovulate (I am extremely perimenopausal) I have cyclical endo pain.

You can try and manage endo via continous bcps, but that doesn't always work. The more surgeries you have the more adhesions can form.

You might want to get another doc's opinion before you decide on which surgery you will have. I know it isn't an easy decision. Personally, I would have them removed, but that is based on my own experience.

Best wishes, D.N.
