Does Europe have an agency equivalent to the FDA? One reason for this
might be that the FDA has to evaluate all new drugs (the ones that are
considered drugs -- they do not consider "herbs" drugs, so these do not
get evaluated at all) before they are approved for use in the U.S.
The FDA can be kind of slow at this (whether they are effective is
another question) because they are totally underfunded and understaffed,
so this can cause a lag in medications being available.
