about soy & hello to Marie

Marjorie, Just to respond to your soy comment, I have been wondering about soy myself because I have heard 2 conflicting theories - one is that the phyto-estrogens in soy are good for people with estrogen dependent diseases like endo, because the body produces less of its own estrogen when they are around, so basically they replace your own natural estrogen, and that is a good thing because plant estrogen is naturaly less functional in the human body than your own estrogen. wow, that was a run on. I also heard that having plant estrogen is bad because it is just more estrogen that you don't need. Hence, I have no idea which theory is right, and I would appreciate anyone's comments.

Marie, I am so sorry that you are in pain still! Fortunately, I think that changing your diet can be a huge help to some women. I agree with everything Marjorie said - avoiding alcohol, caffeine, milk products (at least the non-organic kinds) meat (at least red meat) and fat has helped me. Exercise also helps a lot, I think for any kind of pain. I would also advise you to increase your intake of the B vitamins, because they boost your immune system and also help your liver metabolize excess estrogen, which is a good thing. And by increase I don't mean overdose, because I know that B12 and B6 can be harmful if you take way too much of them. Good luck feeling better, and keep us updated on what has worked for you!
