Re: continuous birth control pills

Rachel, I just started continuous birth control three months ago and have had some side effects like hot flashes, night sweats, nausea, and moodiness. Even though I have nausea and mood swings from my endo, I have never had the hot flashes and night sweats until I started continuous birth control (I did have them on Lupron but expected it). My Doc said he hoped that the continous bc would accomplish the same thing as the Lupron (which I did great on and which kept me pain free for almost two years) without the danger of bone loss. So I have just been dealing with the side effects as best I can until I can talk them over with my Doc in Feb. I have taken regular bcp for almost 12 years but never had the hot flashes and night sweats until I started them continuous. I even run a low grade fever on a regular basis. Since this method tricks the body into thinking you are pregnant, I just figure that I will experience some of the symptoms of pregnancy. I have not had any problems with hair loss or growth. Hope things get better for you. If you are really concerned, talk it over with your Doc and see if this is a common side effect of continuous bcp.
