Re: Pain and Bloating While On Continuous PillFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Dec 30 07:34:35 2002
Barb, I have also been on continuous birth control for about 3 months. The first couple weeks were hard-had lots of endo pain and cramping, plus was kinda moody. Most of that has subsided now, alhtough I do notice bloating at different times of the month and just last week, I spotted for a few days. I think some of what we are experiencing is due to our bodies adjusting to continuous hormome levels. My doctor told me it would take a good 3-4 months for my body to completely adjust, so I have just been riding it out. I have to say though, that I seem to be adjusting rather well. My endo pain is almost non-existent now, while it was constant before I started my pills continuously. I go to the Doc in Feb. to follow up on how this is working for me. Just try to hang in there and give your body time to adjust. If things don't settle down after awhile, you might want to talk to your Doc about trying a different pill. I am on Lo-Ovral. I have been on this off and on for about 5 years, although just started them continuously. I tried Ortho-Tricyclen for awhile (not continuous) and found I had too many bad side effects (migraines, mood swings, no sex drive)so I went back to my faithful Lo-Ovral. It has a lower dose of estrogen, which made a big difference for me. It can take time to find the right "mix". If you want to talk more, please feel free to email me privately. Hugs! Amy Meyer
