Re: Dear Susan, Amy and LeslieFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Dec 18 08:51:58 2002
Wendy, Thank you for the sympathy! All of us Endo suffers need all the sympathy we can get, and it is always better coming from someone who actually understands. Unfortunately for me, my endo did come back. I've had two laps, one round of Lupron, and have tried several kinds of birth control. (I've been on birth control since I was 18 and am now 31). I am now taking my pills continuously, meaning always taking the active pills so I never have a period. I have been doing this for a couple months now, and so far, the results are great. My pain has really subsided and I actually feel somewhat "normal" again. How long it will last remains to be seen. After each surgery (I still have all my organs) I would feel better for awhile and then the endo would come back. Lupron kept me pain free for about a year after I stopped the shots. I hate to sound negative, and hope your pain stays away, but endo is a nasty creature and more often than not it comes back. Birth control may be a good option. Even when I am not taking my pills continuously and having periods, it helps me a little. At least keeps the bleeding from being as bad and keeps me regular. I am so regular that I start at almost the exact same time every month. I am currently taking Lo-Ovral. I like it the best, as I have no side effects (migraines, weight gain, etc.) on them. Ortho-Tricyclen was bad for me-gained ten pounds, would have severe migraines, and had no sex drive. Best bet is to just talk it over with your Doc and go from there. Good luck! Feel free to email me privately if you want. hugs! Amy
