Re: Personal QuestionFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Dec 4 11:54:58 2002
Leslie, I have Stage 3 Endo and just wanted to write and tell you that I experience the same things you do, although thankfully, not all the time. Many times low-key foreplay will cause me to hurt too, and then actual intercourse is even worse. I have always wondered how just getting aroused can cause so much pain. Maybe hormone level surge? Or contractions in the uterus? Not sure, just know that it sometimes hurts. Just knowing that I MIGHT hurt during foreplay and intercourse is enough to kill the mood for me. Hard to get excited about it when you know pain will probably either occur during or after. I often hurt for a day or two afterwards as well and even find myself spotting blood sometimes after sex. I am very fortunate to be married to a wonderful man who is always understanding despite his frustration! But it is still hard. I am 31 years old, in the prime of my life and sexual peak, yet sometimes when my hubby looks at me with that "twinkle" in his eye I just want to run! I have found that trying to relax first helps. Hubbie gives lots of back rubs which helps me to relax and get in the mood. I also try to just "mentally prepare" myself. Sometimes I can tune the pain out long enough to enjoy the encounter and then worry about the pain afterwards. Hope it helps a little to know you are not alone! Feel free to email me privately if you want to vent further. Hang in there!!!!!!!! Amy
