I think the NP is being a bit unrealistic. I think this 12 year old she mentioned is more exception than a rule.

With one of my laps though, I didn't need any painkiller (it was a bit sore but didn't warrant taking any), and I did some work that night (bear in mind I work from home), and was back to 'near normal' the next day. The same thing happened with another lap, I was out shopping in a busy shopping mall the next day. But it's not always like that. Some other laps it took me a week to feel normal again. By the way, none of the laps were purely diagnostic - I had things done with all of them.

What I'd say is, don't try to get back to doing things unless you feel up to it. Everyone is different and you just need to take as long as you need.
