I am a little confused... I had a colposcopy a couple years ago because of Dysplasia (growths on my cervix or HPV). From what I understand a colpo is used for mainly the cervical area to visualize abnormalities such as dysplasia or other types of HPV which would show up on a PAP Smear. What I'm confused about is why would a Gyn do a colpo for Endo since Endo is mostly found on the inside not on the cervix? Another thing as I understand it is the only way to properly diagnose Endo is via laparoscopy. I don't know if this Gyn you saw had something else in mind as to what was causing painful sex but I'm pretty sure that a colpo wouldn't detect Endo. Endo can also grow on your rectum that would be why you had the sharp pain. I encourage you to see a different Gyn and discuss any other syptoms you may have. Do you have any other symptoms of Endo?
