Re: Finally, it's over

i can relate. Last August I started having lots of severe pain and did not know what it was. I have two children an am 35 yo and for the past 34 years have had not one menstrual problem except for the last year or so. The dr said when I told them about the cramps getting worse, that is what happens when you get older.

When they finally did an ultrasound, they found a mass on my rt ovary. We elected to have a lap and have it removed, not knowing what the dr would find once he got in there. It was done w/a lap, and the endo was growing all over the ovary and had tangle up with the appendix. The dr said it was a good thing we did it when we did, my appendix could have burst.

So, he "cleaned" up the growths, put me onto hormones, (actually told me he wanted me to be pregnant or on the pill!! I was angry at him for suggesting pregnancy to keep it under control for a simple 9 months!) So, opted for the pill and this summer started having more problems. I went to a new ob/gyne and talked to him. Another ultrasound found a mass on the left ovary this time. My dh and I elected to go ahead with the hysterectomy.

Monday, Oct 28th of this year I had my hysterectomy. This was a scary choice because he wouldn't be able to do it LAVH, but as abdominal. When he told us of the problems I might have with the LAVH, we made the choice to go ahead.

It was a good thing that we did. My bladder, uterus and rectum were bonded together in a mass. The growths were all over my colon, "tunneling" (?) throughout the cavity, and all over the left ovary. I not only have an incision as a c-section, but inside I have a vertical one too. He said this was due to the fact that the growths were everywhere and he had to do much "scraping."

It has been 5 weeks and I am still no where near to normal. The dr said it would take quite some time considering what he had to do. He called this a very aggressive endo??? Anyone heard of this happening? Not one problem and then wham??

I am hoping for a full recovery with no pain anymore. I know that there is a chance of the pain. Can anyone tell me if it could come back and if they have had any problems??

THanks for letting me share. I only found this site a couple of days ago, wish that i had a long time ago.

I only had one ovary removed and is still in pain but not from the endo., nor the fibroid tumors, nor the uterine bleeding. Is it true you have to take it easy for the whole 6 to 8 wks??? Why can you not pick nothing up or bend over???????
