Painful sex - no idea what! PLEASE HELP!From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed Nov 27 18:16:49 2002
If someone could help me or shed any light on my situation, I would be so very grateful. About a year ago, after very normal, healthy sexual relations, sex suddenly became very painful. Penetration doesn't hurt at all, and when I am underneath my partner, everything is fine. Suddenly, as I was on top, I would feel a jab in my lower right abdomen (a little to the left of the pelvic bone). I went to see my gynie and she thought that maybe I was allergic to the hormone that is released during orgasm but I get the pain before I even have an orgasm. I went to see another gynie and he recommended me to have a colposcopy for suspected Endometriosis. While he was performing a rectal exam, I felt a sharp pain. I went to visit the surgeon but upon his examination, the rectal pain was not reproduced. The pain that I get during/after sex begins as a jab and then I feel a rumble throughout the lower right hand side of my abdomen. The pain intensifies over a period of about 3 minutes to the point where I am crumpled over the bed in pain (and sometimes tears). This entire painful episode can last up to 10 minutes. I had the colposcopy which should up negative for Endo but he did find abrasions between my colon and stomach. He severed the tissue connecting my colon and stomach. Once I had recovered from the surgery and was able to become sexually active again, everything seemed great and I thought that I was finally rid of my problem. Until now. It's been 2 months since my surgery and I am back to the excrutiating pain. This of course has seriously affected my sexual drive. The pain is a very strong surge throughout my lower right abdomen and feels like it is in my uterus. I also sometimes feel like I need to deficate. This evening, when the pain came back, I just cried and cried for knowing that it was back and I was not free of it. I love my boyfriend very much and he is super-suportive (it was he that found this website). I had an entire work-up done and there wasn't not any herpes, ghonerrea or anything like that. I do have HPV and had precancerous cells. 6 months before the pain began, I had a cold knife cone biopsy which was successful. Both gynies that I have seen in the past few months have commented upon examination that the surgeon who performed the Cold Knife Cone Biopsy did an excellent job and everything looked great. I do not have any children. Please. Please. Please. Can anyone help?
