Re: donations causes wat can we do( tried sevral companies)From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Nov 25 17:22:58 2002
Tampons are one big source of dioxin. Read the EA's literature. Basically, you're not trying to be part of any solution to get the dioxin *removed* permanently from tampon products or stand up against the corporate giants against exposure to the toxin; instead, you're happy to just accept money from the makers of those products in exchange for that exposure. Good plan; I'm sure things will improve drastically for Endo awareness by accepting "blood money." There comes a time in life when beggars HAVE to choose to stand up for what's right - instead of just taking the easy way out. Do you honestly think Tampax, etc. is going to put "this product might expose you to dioxin which in turn greatly increases your risk of Endometriosis" on their products?! Not likely - they don't even ADMIT that the dioxin is a problem. There is a big difference between tobacco companies, who have thousands of pages of scientific data regarding the risks of smoking, and tampon companies who don't admit there is a problem in the first place. But, whatever. I'll support the EA in their mission and you support the tampon companies. You might also want to hit up TAP Pharmaceuticals, the makers of Lupron, for donations - I hear they've bought their way into the Endo community really well for the past 10 yrs. Doesn't matter, apparently, that Lupron has significantly negative side effects for many women...as long as they keep paying "donations," the Endo community will keep suffering.
