Re: Should I ask my Dr for BCP when taking Lupron? From: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Nov 22 16:48:52 2002
Hello Alice, My doc has given my a prescription for the add-back, but I have chosen to see how I do without it. I think I'm going to give in pretty soon. The hot-flashes and other side effects are starting to get to me and I haven't been on lupron for very long. I would diffently see about getting the add-back. Also, my doc told me to stay on bcp for at least 2 weeks after my first shot. This is to prevent getting pg while the lupron is kicking in. If you get pg while on lupron, it could cause major damage to the baby. If you think that you are going to be having sex, ask your doc what he/she suggest. I suggest that you take bcp's, just to be sure you don't get pg, for 2 weeks and then come off of them. There really isn't any need after the lupron gets in your system, since it shut-down you reproductive system. But as I said, diffently ask your doc his/her opinon. I'm not a doc, but I have told you what my doc has told me.
