Pharmacy problems

Hey there everyone! I hope everyone is doing well. I had a problem today with my pharmacy. My boyfriend went in to get my Vicodin for me, because I am on bed rest and the pharmacist did not want to fill my prescription because he said that I take too much Vicodin. I only use it as directed-1 or 2 every 4 hours as needed for pain. Well needless to say my boyfriend decided to explain to the pharmacisit and all of the customers that were nearby that I have endo and I am in extreme pain, etc. Finally my prescription was filled. My question is, can the pharmacist leagally not fill my prescription?
