Kat, Every birth control I have ever taken recommends waiting at least a month after starting the pills before engaging in unprotected sex. It takes awhile for your body to adjust to the pills and for them to start working to prevent pregnancy. I would HIGHLY suggest you wait a month after starting them before having "unsafe" sex. It is better to be safe than sorry! Not sure if one ovary would effect your fertitily or not. From what I understand, your ovaries take turns ovulating each month, i.e. one month the left ovulates, the next month the right, so on and so on. But I'm not sure how your body acts if you only have one ovary. Sorry I can't be of help on that one. I would just talk to your Doc.
