Lupron will not keep you in a menopausal state forever, only while you are taking the shots. Once you stop the shots, you're period will return within a few months. I did Lupron last year and as soon as my last shot wore off and I started my birth control again, I had a period right on normal schedule. So yes, when you stop the Lupron your periods will return.

I would suggest talking to your doctor if you have concerns about it. If it helps, my experience on Lupron was great. I had some minor side effects (which went away when I stopped the shots) like hot flashes (which feel weird but you get used to them), night sweats, and just a couple really hormonal mood swings, but other than those few things, it didn't bother me, and it helped tremendously! I was pain free the whole time I was on the shots, and stayed pain free for almost a year afterward. Every woman reacts to Lupron differently, so it's hard to know what to expect. I would do Lupron again in a minute if need be. Hope this helps and makes it a little less scary! Email me directly at airons@one.net if you want to talk more about it.
