Re: Has my endo come back already? From: Mel (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Oct 29 08:30:07 2002
D.N., According to the doctor, everything has been removed with no problem. No parts/pieces left behind. Before my hysterectomy, I had extremely heavy bleeding and the doctors assumed that was causing the severe iron deficiency. Iron pills make me very sick, so a hysterecotmy was done. My iron went lower after surgery and kept dropping instead of slowly rising. Further testing showed I had iron deficiency due to Celiac Disease. Celiac Disease is a condition in which you have an allergic reaction to the gluten found in wheat, rye, barley, and oats. Most flours, starches, preservations, sauces, etc. contain some form of gluten. Anyway, the Celiac Disease inflames the small intestines and kills off the villi (sp?). The villi is what draws in things like iron. I was placed on a gluten-free diet and whad 3 iron infusions. The only good news I've had lately is that my Celiac Disease tests indicate that I have my diet under control and my iron levels are good. Plus if you would like me to add to the above, I've also been diagnosed with Rosacea. So not only am I battling with female things and Celiac Disease, I'm trying to figure out how to keep my red-faced covered up. Isn't life wonderful? Thanks again for your replies.
