Re: Has my endo come back already?From: D.N. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Oct 28 15:56:49 2002
Mel, I am sorry about the abbreviations. LSO is left salpingo-oophrectomy and BTW = by the way. No question is silly or stupid so don't worry about that. You may have a part of an ovary left behind. That is what ovarian remnant syndrome is. A transvaginal US can show if there are any cysts. If there were any, it could be peritoneal (my doc thought I had that at first) or functional cysts. I have just a small piece of an ovary left and it functions almost like a whole one. Ovaries have incredible staying power. The reason they didn't get all mine right ovary out was when they went back in for the second surgery, the ovary was covered in adhesions and endo and it was wrapped around my ureter. My doc was afraid of damaging the ureter. They should check your FSH and estadiol levels. That would show if you are pre-menopausal or post-menopausal. FSH levels fluctuation a lot during perimenopause so you can have a reading that looks like post meno when it is only up temporarily. Are you having any bleeding? I am wondering why you have iron deficiency anemia? Let me know if you have more questions. Best wishes, D.N.
