Re: laparoscopy with epidural?

I did enquire about this, and was told that it was not a good idea as the pressure of CO2 onto the diaphram makes it very uncomfortable and in the surgeon's experience every epidural lap so far had ended up being a general anesthethia due to patient discomfort. Also it makes it harder for the surgeon to do a good job if you are in obvious discomfort. If you are having a laparotomy, then it's apparently more of an option! (C-section is often performed under epidural, go figure.)

I have had a laparoscopic pain mapping with conscious sedation, but once the problem was found, it proceeded to general anaesthetic.

Epidural also has a risk of causing spinal headache. I can tell you that spinal headache is extremely uncondusive to speedy recovery after laparoscopy when it may be better to be up and gently walking a little - with spinal headache, you can't remain vertical for long!
