Re: Anyone had a Laparotomy performed?

Dear Heather, I had 5 Laparatomies for endo. The recovery was totally different each time. Mayor aspect: never lift or shift anything heavier than 5 kilos for the next 6 weeks. Anything else is up to your condition and how you feel. And listen to your body. If you feel you are not able really leave it. I made the mistake once to go further and it took me weeks to make up for it( and that wasn't a mayor surgery). I had recoveries anything from 3 weeks to 5 months, that dependet as well how bad I was before and how much they had to do during surgery. How much I was weekened.

I did alot of excercising like handy gymnastic for the diaphragm and belly and back muscles. I found this helps alot to regain your energy levels, without provocing weekness.

Hope that helps you any further, feel free to mail me if you have further questions. Good luck and don't worry you will manage, what you feel up to. Anglhugs Sybille
