I'm not sure why you SHOULDN'T have sex during menstruation. For most with endo, it's just too painful a prospect. But you can't conceive while having your period. You CAN conceive if you have mid-cycle spotting with ovulation. Some people confuse this mid-cycle spotting with menstruation. You usually ovulate mid-cycle. A lot of indicators will tell you when, like cervical fluid, cervical position and temperature change. If you are trying to avoid using hormone treatments (BCP) and latex (condoms), you could try the FAM (Fertility Awareness Method). I've mentioned it on this chat before, but there is a wonderful book by Terri Weschler titled Taking Charge of Your Fertility. If you have questions regarding what your body is doing throughout the monthly cycle, this is a wonderful guide. It canl help you avoid pregnancy, as well as achieve it.
