Re: Danazol

Jennifer, I was the one who wrote about being on only 50 mg of Danazol. My doctor started me off with 200mg three times a day...but I actually started with 200mg twice a day (because I was nervous of the side effects). The effects were immediate for me. I no longer had cramps, bleeding or fatigue for the first time in years! However, within the first three weeks, I put on 10lbs, had acne and oily skin. So, I cut back my dose to 100 mg twice a day. The side effects continued and my breasts started to shrink, with more weight gain. After I saw my doctor for the follow up, he told me that he had never treated a patient who had such sensitivity to Danazol (good and bad) but that I could cut back on the dose as long as I waited at least a few weeks to see how I reacted. Anyway, after about 4months on it, I've decided to go off. I was so uncomfortable with the side effects and even on just the 50mgs, they were still getting worse. I will say this...it's been so wonderful to know that this is an option when the pain comes back. I was so scared to take it, but now at least I know that it works :) Take care and if it works for you...use it!
