Re: Do BC Pills Help Any of You?

I think they've helped overall. I've been on them for about 2 years, ever since my lap. I wouldn't say I am pain-free, but I feel a whole lot less pain. It took trying a few different brands, and for the last 6 months I have been on Mircette, a low-estrogen pill. I also tried TriNorinyl and Ortho Tri-Cyclen. One thing I have been told is that the phasics (like these last 2--meaning you take different levels of the hormones on different weeks) are bad for endo patients because the variations wreak havoc with our endo. Mircette is one continuous dose for 3 weeks, 2 days off, and then 5 days of a lower dose. This allows you to get your period, but not have a significant estrogen drop. I've generally felt a lot better since I've been on it, though I am also trying dietary changes and more exercise. Exercise really helps with the pain! On the other hand, when stressed, I've been bad about the diet, and it still hasn't flared back up.

I have tried continuous BCPs and hate it. I just have breakthrough bleeding the whole time, so there is little benefit.
