LUPRON to stop periodsFrom: Julia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Jul 29 17:26:34 2002
I developed a blood clot in my leg and in both of my lungs after surgery. I am now on Coumadin Therapy. The Dr. says I will be on the Coumadin for approximately 6 months. My Dr. was concerned about stopping or limiting my periods during this time. She suggested that I get Lupron shots for the 6 months that I am on Coumadin. She is concerned that with my history of anemia in combination with the Coumadin that my periods my be so heavy as to cause even worse anemia requiring possible blood transfusions. I do not typically have heavy periods... and I am extremely cautious about taking Lupron shots. I do not think the pros outweigh the cons on this issue. However, my Dr. disagrees with me. What should I do? I want to wait and have one normal period and see how it goes... - I was basically forced to have a Lupron shot (only 1 so far) when I was in the hospital for my blood clots - but I have now had time to do research and reconsider. Does anyone have any advice or info on using Lupron to stop periods while on Coumadin? Is there an alternative? Thanks to you all,
-- Julia
