Btroost:

Is the under arm method with the old fashioned thermometer the preferred method for getting this "thyroid" temp reading? Can I not use my digital (?) thermometer under my tongue as this takes but a minute and stops on its own? My regular temp with the digital reading under tongue method is always under 98. I often range in the 96 to 97 degree. Would that have any significance? Last year my T7 (FTI) was normal, but the T3 was low and the T4 was high. I don't know what any of that means but my doctor said it was fine and didn't require treatment of any kind. I thought that my hair thinning may have been related to endo or insulin resistance as I have endo (and my problems re hair seemed to have started with my menstrual/endo problems) and I have a parent with Diabetes Mellitus. Since the hair thinning seemed to affect those areas that affect women with pcos, I thought that may be the culprit in my case. So thyroid problems would cause a loss of hair on the sides and the crown of the head? If my doctor feels my thyroid is fine, I don't think I'm going to be able to get a doctor to give me samples of thyroid meds just to try it out. If you are familiar with thyroid readings, does my above reading indicate a thyroid problem, or do thyroid readings fluctuate from day to day/week to week?
