I think there is a direct relation between endo and Candida. From what
I have read, it's possible that it has to do with supressed immune
systems; women with endo are more likely to have had food allergies,
candidia, mono, and more. It is also possible that long term use of
antibiotics and/or BCP's are the culprit in Candida, as they both may
kill off the good bacteria that we need to fight off infections. My
naturopath had me on Nystatin for years and it cleared up my Candida
problems totally (and helped my sinuses!) I also take a
multi-acidopholus regularly and double it if I have to use antibiotics.
I have read about the anti-candida diet and would do it if I needed, but
since I found out I was allergic to milk and eggs (eating foods you are
allergic to also suppresses your immune system as your body has to fight
it off)and have used the Nystatin and acidopholus I haven't had any
problems for years. I stopped taking BCP's seven years ago because they
were causing my (real) breasts to become hard (the irritation from it
could cause breast cancer), although that's when my endo really started
growing. And I agree, excision by a trained professional is the only
cure.
