Anyone here with Vulvodynia?From: Kathy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Jul 26 08:07:46 2002
Hello to all! I hope each one of you is having a painfree day! I would like to ask a question that may seem a little personal but after reading many of the posts here I don't think anyone would be embarrassed or grossed out ( except me maybe!). I know we shouldn't be embarrassed to talk about what's wrong with us but I am still not completely ready to leave my pride at the door, so to speak, so I will try to be as professional as possible! Okay! My question is this, are there any women out there who have been diagnosed with vulvodynia? I know of one girl who has and we have emailed a little about it. She has been a huge source of information and I was wondering if there are others who have it. I have not been officially diagnosed with it but I believe I have it. I have been to my gyn about it a few times. He has done smears, cultures and has prescribed me creams ( that don't work at all!). He says he can't see anything that looks abnormal. My pain is almost constant. It used to be intermittent or especially with my cycle. I have no discharge, bleeding or odor just an intense burning with occasional itching. It is hard to sit for long periods of time because I feel sore. The best way to describe it is it feels like I rode on a horse with a sandpaper saddle!! I'm sorry to sound so whiny! I also have endometriosis and would much rather suffer with that pain then with this awful burning! It has completely stopped my sex life with my husband. Ultimate cruelty! I notice that when I am having alot of pelvic pain from the endo or have a full bladder the pain in my vagina gets worse.I have terrible vaginal pressure; it feels so swollen and inflammed but doesn't look like it is?!?!?!?! It is not an inside pain. It's external and sometimes affects the whole area. Does this sound familiar to anyone? What should I do? Are there other tests the dr. can do to rule things out? I have read that sometimes they never find the cause and just try to treat the pain. Is this true?! That sounds like a frightening prognosis! I am sorry this is so long! I am getting so frsutrated and discouraged! Any shared experiences or advice would be greatly apprecaited! Also I feel for all of you on this board who are going though so much! Do you ever want to be a man for one day?!?!?!LOL. Thanks for listening and God bless you all!
