Regarding Staying on or Getting off BCP

I have also been on the BCP since Feb of this year. I ended up having a lap which revealed Endo. My right fallopian tube, appendix, and a cyst on that right tube was removed. Some Endo had to be left behind because of the risks of removing it. What was left behind is near my Ureter and a main artery. My Gyn has kept me on the pill, hoping the Endo will stay at bay. She also told me to break from it to have a period every 3-4 months. I am getting ready to do that soon. She didn't tell me this until recently. Also, my pain is still there, but I thought this was just typical of Endo. What do y'all think?

>>Dear Sarah,

I have recently been diagnosed with Endo, and have been blessed with a PCM and Gyn at a large military hospital who care and are open minded. The problem I have had is with the entire hospital system's administration, to the point of making formal complaints. If it wasn't for the care I am receiving from my physicians, I would ask for a referral off base. Those who have Tricare Prime are entitled to that. I am not sure how the other Tricare programs work. I am not an aggressive person, but have learned to be in a coothful way. Keep being persistent, maintain a personal medical journal, and make copies of your records. If you don't obtain the care you need from the medical facility you are at, seek the necessary steps to be seen at another. It is up to us to take care of our individual health needs. Also, remember, that not all military medical doctors are bad. In fact, there are many civilian ones who are prior military. I hope I have helped somewhat. Amy
