ARe you protected by a union? Can you contact them and tell them about the problem. It smacks of workplace intimidation and violation of your employment rights on several levels. I would have your doctor fax a more detailed instruction to your boss ASAP (explain to the nurse you talk to on the phone and make sure to tell her if your job requires lifting. Tell her what your boss said) If you are given difficulty about it, you can sue for intimidation and violation of labor laws. They have organisations that would help you do that if you ever had to. If it was me, I would complain to corporate HR about her anyway. I would send a certified letter to corporate HR with an attached note from the doctor and an explanation of how badly you were treated. She sounds like a potential liability for UPS. you are not powerless and your boss sounds like she should not be in a supervisory position. I am sorry that she is being such a shrew when you are already stressed as is.
