I had 6-months of Lupron shots, the last shot was the end of February. I had a laparoscopy done in July of 2001 and the Lupron shots were to be the next step. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 2 1/2 years now. I did feel better while on the Lupron shots. I did have hot flashes and night sweats. At first, they were almost overwhelming and I felt like passing out. But, during the second month Iwas able to tell when a hot flash was coming and I would go out in the cold. Since it was winter, the cold weather really helped me. My husband was understanding, even when I insisted we not heat our bedroom so that I could sleep without night sweats.

One thing no one told me about Lupron shots is that your cycle doesn't automatically return to normal. It took more than 3-months after my last shot before I got my period. It was upsetting because when trying to conceive I wanted to know my cycle -- now it is very unpredictable (the last was 46 days). I will admit that the hot flashes and night sweats were better than dealing with the pain of endo. My pain was almost nonexistent while on the shots, but now it's back. In fact, because my cycle is so unpredictable I think that the pain is worse now. My doctor now has me trying "Bextra" to relieve the pain, but it has done nothing.

I, also, was leery about taking the shots. I feel that I made the right decision for my body and I'm sure you will, too. I hope that you have a supportive partner. I think my husband was more tollerant to the side effects from Lupron than he is to the pain the endo is causing now. I continue to pray that I get pregnant in hopes that I would at least have some relief from the pain ... we want children badly.

I wish you the best. Keep me posted on your results.
