Re: Eliminating Milk/DairyFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun Jul 7 00:06:16 2002
Katie: The fact that you've already eliminated dairy is in your favor! Dairy can be pretty yummy (cheese, icecream, etc.) lol! Have you also eliminated eggs and phytoestrogens? Eggs, many vegetables (soy products, beans, mung bean thread, etc.), excess coffee, even one cup of black tea, chocolate, garlic?, olive oil?, etc., all flare my pain. Also don't know whether I have IC or whether endo is also sensitive to acidic foods but citrus, citric acid, tomatoes (sp?), aspirin, excess coffee, etc. all flare me in what I think may be some weird kind of IC pain (but the urologist said it is not IC pain, so that must mean it is endo pain as well? I just don't know anymore -- it leaves me confused lol. But I do know that the eggs, cheese, phytoestrogens, etc. flare the endo pain). Oh! I forgot to add Granola/Oats to the list -- I get very bad lowback pain when eating oats of any kind (oatbran, granola, etc.) (icecream gives me the same kind of pain as the Oats/granola) -- very strange as I never had a problem with those foods until I had symptomatic endo. Maybe you're consuming phytoestrogens which flare your pain? If this is the case, then perhaps you'll get lucky and eliminate much of your pain by eliminating the offending items???? Its worth a try! I'm not a meat eater so I can't comment on that. Hope this helps -- if not, how about ibuprofen -- better yet would be surgery with an endo expert. Ibuprofen is a great med but it gives me ulcers.
