Allergic reaction to Ortho-Evra ( the new B.C. 'patch' )From: Selisa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue Jun 25 15:43:50 2002
Hello ladies, it has been awhile since I have been on. There are several reasons why, one being I felt like I was in a battlefield, but I see that has been fixed, I am glad! Secondly, some of you know that my doc has started me on the new patch called Ortha Evra to try and get my Endo under control or at least to a point where we could manage it. Well, I was supposed to wait until I got a cycle to start, but that never happened, so I went ahead and started. Well not even 5 or 6 hours later, I started getting this really weird rash, 2 days later, I was in the ER with a really bad allergic reation from the patch. I had this nasty itchy puffy rash from head to toe, and it was starting to spread to the inside of my mouth. So now I am one Prednisone (sp? ) and Hydroxizone, to help get rid of the swelling, the itchiness and hopefully the rash! Of course it doesn't help that I am allergic to Benedryl! So, as soon as my doc gets back from vacation, hopefully we can figure out what to do next! We had planned to try this patch until August 1rst, then do the LUNA and the Pre-Sacral Neurectomy, so who knows what will happen next! Please pray that this rash goes away soon though, it is very uncomfortable, and really ugly too! Thanks! ~~Selisa~~
