Re: anyone else bleed for a month ??From: holly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Jun 10 15:04:53 2002
Amanda, For the past year I have had my period about 3 weeks every month. I was on over 6 different types of BCP's with varying levels of estrogen but none of them helped stop the bleeding at all. In January I also had a D&C which again did nothing to shorten my bleeding. While doctors are not sure what is causing this they feel that it is definitely related to my endo and perhaps is the result of what they think is adenomyosis. If you have just started or recentely switched to a different kind of BCP's perhaps you should experiment with changing to another one. it might just be breakthrough bleedings, However, if, as in my case, the bleeding is continuously heavy throughout the month and different BCP's do nothing to stop the bleeding, talk to your doctor. I was told that Lupron should definitely help stop the bleeding but I chose not to go this route because of the side effects. Instead, I have chosen to fight my endo and extra bleeding through diet and nutrition. I highly recomend the book "Endo: A Key to Healing Through Nutrition" by Dian Shepperson Mills. I have been following the diet and lifestyle recommended in this book for that past 3 months. As a result, last month was the first time in over a year that I had my period for less than 10 days!!! Best wishes and let us know what happens! holly t
