Just continue to remind yourself that this procedure is to help you, not hurt you. This story isn't meant to scare you, only prepare you. When I went in for my laparoscopy last year, I awoke to find that a laparotomy was done. Not a nice surprise! I was not prepared to be out of work for a month! I just found out recently when I requested my medical records that my husband had given consent while I was in surgery. So I guess my tip for you is make it clear to your doctor and relatives how far you are willing to go. Also, please see that someone is there to help you. If I could be there to help you, I would! Don't be scared.
