Re: pains are back after surgery

This was so similar to my situation that I had to write. I had my first
lap in April, in which my doctor also lasered out the endo. After a
couple of weeks, the same old pain returned (this pain is uniquely
recognizable, as most of you know). My doctor wants to start me on
Lupron, which although scary to me, seems to be the most common
treatment and worth a try, especially if this pain is indicative of endo
remaining. At this point, the every day pain would make me willing to
try almost anything. What I'm confused about is this; from my research,
primary dysmenorrhea has the same symptoms as endo, except that it is
centered around your period, where as endo pain can occur at any time.
Before I started seeking treatment, my symptoms fell into the category
of primary dysmenorrhea (since the age of 14, severe pain on the first
two days of my period, with some other symptoms directly before and
after). I started on the birth control pills to control this, and they
helped for a couple of years, and then gradually helped less and less,
until I started having every day pain. What I'm wondering is, what if
my original problem was primary dysmenorrhea, then the birth control
brought on the endo? Once I finish the Lupron, even if it does get rid
of all the endo, I could be back to square one with the primary
dysmenorrhea! How do you know which is causing the pain? And is there no
help for primary dysmenorrhea? Any info or opinions would be greatly
appreciated.
I just want to add that this site has been enormously helpful to me in
my search to have a pain free, normal life. Everyone hang in there!
