Despite being a scientist and working for a drug company, I am very much in favor of alternative medicine - particularly when it comes to disorders such as endo where there is no cure and all of the treatments have either side effects or are just temporary.

First - some things Ive read about. Then I have a question.

If you want to go full-out diet control on this disease, I would recommend going macrobiotic. Its gaining popularity and even all Ritz Carlson chef's know how to cook this way. I dont know the exact premise - but it is a very limiting way to eat. My step-father has been doing it for about 6 years now after a diagnosis of prostate cancer. He had most of his prostate removed, but he still registered as having PSA (cancer) in his system. Anyway, six years later and he still registers the PSA, but not a single new tumor. His doctor is amazed. The Kushi institute provides lots of tips for cooking macrobiotic and provide recipts and seminars to help. I however, dont think Im ready for anything that radical, yet. THus, my question...

I was reading up on Julie Chang's web site promoting Chinese bitters and Coptis (taken at a particular schedule) to help control the symptoms of endo and improve fertility. Ive been reading up on these therapies and have found no indicated side effects, etc..., but was wondering if anyone had tried her approach. Any experience with this would be helpful! FYI - her web site is at http://www.sensiblehealth.com

Best to you all. Lana
