I would also add that you need to check out your doc's credentials before allowing him or her to perform the laparoscopy. There are many OB-GYNs who assume they are skilled enough to treat endo through laparoscopy, but in the Endometriosis Sourcebook (which I highly, highly recommend), it says that in a study of 58 doctors who applied for a special laparoscopic certification and believed they were qualified, only 5 actually passed the test to get the certification!!! (I don't have the book right in front of me, or I would be more specific)

I just went through a lap without checking thoroughly first my doc's credentials, and she found new implants at a worse stage then they've ever been, but she doesn't have the skills to remove them, so she just left them and wants me to do Lupron (which we talked about BEFORE surgery, when I said I would never, ever take it again). If I want (or need) those implants gone, I'll have to pay for another surgery!

The fact that you've already been diagnosed with endo should have been a lightbulb for the doctor. If he can't or won't do the lap, get a referral. Don't wait for the 6 weeks if you are so incapacitated by pain that you can't live your life. Besides, has he done any tests to see if there are other causes of the pain (ectopic pregnancy, ruptured cyst, uterine fibroids)? If he hasn't and just sent you away with a BCP prescription, how does he know you don't have one of the above conditions - of which ectopic pregnancy can be fatal?

Just my two cents, Jen G PS. You have every right to fight for proper treatment (even though you're probably already fighting just to do the things healthy people do every day). Be brave, and good luck.
