Re: should I have the surgery?From: Natalie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon Apr 29 09:52:23 2002
Hello Heather, It should be completely your decision. I am also very scared of having any type of surgery. My doctor found endo on the surface of my cervix and she wants to do a LEEP procedure (in which they scrape off some of the tissue with an electrical current going through a wire loop). She also suggested the possibility of doing a laparoscopy to see if I have it other places in my body. Personally, both procedures really freak me out. I have never been under general before, and just the idea of being cut in any way is very scary for me. The procedure done to do the biopsy on my cervix (which was really not that bad) comes into my mind from time to time and it is not pleasant. I think that I am going to try some of the alternative therapies to see if any of them help before resorting to surgery. Of course, I don't have pain really. I only have bleeding during/after sex. So, the decision to postpone surgery and try other things is an easier one for me. I have seen/heard about several people having success with a modified diet. I don't know how that compares to people's success with surgery, but I feel something less invasive is worth a shot. Good luck with your decision. It is not an easy one to make. -Natalie
