endometriosisFrom: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri Apr 26 22:14:57 2002
I was diagnosed at 19 yrs. old with endometriosis and underwent a lap. I was symtom free for about 7 years (I am 31 now). Over the past several years my periods have been increasingly painful. The last 3 years I have been bed ridden for the day prior, the day of, and the day after my period. I resently was hit as a pedesrtian by a moving vehical and relized how bad my endometriosis has gotten. I got my period while on Demerol tablets and 2 Demerol shots each day for 7 days. Even while getting this medication for pain management of my broken bones I was still in pain from "cramps". I feel that I have let the situation go for too long and now it may be out of control. I am single and have no children as of yet. I do not want to do something that will take away my option to have children later in life. What are the options available that have worked for people with upper stage endometriosis? PS In the past I have had much sucess with VIOXX 50 mg per day for treatment of pain associated with my periods.
