Re: BC pill questionFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netTue Apr 23 11:20:11 2002
I have been taking Mircette since around December. I previously took Tri-Norinyl (didn't like--made my breasts hurt) and Ortho Tri-Cyclen. My doc switched me to Mircette to help deal with my post-menstrual headaches. My first month on it I had pretty constant breakthrough bleeding, but beginning with month 2 it's been smooth sailing. I have no complaints about it. I don't find any of the pills make a big difference with my endo pain -- I find that only diet and exercise really help with that. I like that Mircette has the lowest amount of estrogen on the market. And I have also heard that the phasic pills (like the ones I was taking) are worse for many endo sufferers, since the shifting hormone levels play havoc with the endo. As for cost, I am not sure, since my insurance started covering the pills as of January, so I pay $20/month. They are probably about the same cost as any other BCP (before I had insurance, they were about $34/month). Look on a place like drugstore.com for better deals than your pharmacy.
