Re: Stage IV endo with infertilityFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netMon Apr 15 09:15:54 2002
Rose and Ana-- Don't give up hope at all yet. Medicine knows very little at this point about the link between infertility and endo. It is certainly true that many women with endo have fertility problems; but by no means ALL women, even with advanced stages of the disease. And it's also true that, the more advanced the disease (I too have Stage IV), the more likely there are to be fertility problems, but again, that is not true of all such women. The hard part is that it's not easy to predict your fertility from your endo--you'll just have to "try and see." And Ana, I am glad your mother in law wasn't able to scare you away from marrying someone. Her statement is the most selfish one I have heard in a long while! It sounds like her son has done a wonderful job at becoming an independent person and making his own decisions separately from her. That will be important as you struggle with these issues, which can sometimes bring out the worst in family members. Good luck.
