Re: Questions about endometrias and endometriosisFrom: Ana (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu Apr 11 22:57:25 2002
HI. I also have endometrias and I think generally it is the same as endometriosis but I am not positive about that. My cyst was bigger then my ovary itself and I did not have everything removed. But everyone is different. Maybe you should get a second opinion before you decide to go ahead with a surgery where you will lose what you will. GOOD LUCK! ~ANA
>----- Original Message ----- I have a large ovarian cyst (8cm x 7cm x 8c) with a solid component (2cmx3cm). My gyn. thinks it's most likely an endometria (sp?). First of all if it's an endometria does that mean it's endometriosis? I don't really have any pain just pressure and discomfort. My gyn is considering that it might also be ovarian cancer but thinks it's more likely to be endo. I'm not so sure as many of my symptoms are consistent with ovarian cancer. My gyn is also a specialist in complicated gyn surgeries and is very experienced with gyn cancers. I'm currently waiting for surgery (The waiting list where I live in Canada is at least 8 weeks for urgent surgeries!). He wants to do a laparotomy rather than the laparoscope as he believes it's too risky to remove the cyst and tumor through the scope. He mentioned that if it's an endometria he might have to give me a hyster. I don't understand if I'm not in pain and there is nothing else showing up on the ultrasound on the other ovary why he'd have to take it all?
