Re: Is a laparoscopy the best choice?

Your doctor will not know how extensive your endo is until he does the surgery. I don't think anyone looks forward to a surgery, but it is important that something is done so you know the extent of it. I was misdiagnosed for so long that now not only are my ovaries infected but also my liver, colon, intestines, and bladder. This will be a long frustrating battle for you, but it will be better than ignoring it and it getting worse. I have heard it can go into the brain, heart and lungs even. Although your dr may find nothing but one cyst he may find something much more serious? To the woman who was diagnosed with the cancers at 21 . . . what were your symptoms? I have been being diagnosed with a UTI since November, but it has not gone away although I have been on a bajillion meds. I recently read in a magazine today that the symptoms of ovarian cancer are extreme pelvic pain (which I have), frequent urination (I go pee literally probably once every 5 mins), and a few other things. I didn't really think to worry about it since I am only 19, but after reading your story I am concerned. Unfortunately I live four and a half hours away from the dr who had been dealing with my endo for four years so it is not easy for me to take advice from drs who talk to me for 5 mins and dont know my case history. You need to find a doctor you trust completely before proceeding with anything. I have had numerous laps; diagnosed with endo @ 16, but started having problems @ 13; after all the surgeries and lupron treatments I was dianosed with cancer of the uterus and cervix; @ 21 hysterectomy and then the endo came back and the ovaries were taken after another lap; still am having problems though....don't wait on this, because it can get out of hand.
